U.S. to hail Turkey’s decision
The U.S. hailed Turkey’s decision to resend Namiq Tan back to Washington. “We hail that decision,” AFP cites Philip Crowell, Speaker of State Secretariat, as saying.
It’s worth reminding that yesterday Turkey’s PM Rejep Tayip Erdogan declared he accepted Obama’s invitation to travel to Washington on April 12-13. He also said Ambassador Tan will be back to Washington next week.
“The USA and Turkey have very significant strategic ties. We’ve lots of affairs to carry out together, and if we have a mediator in Washington those efforts would be more effective,” Crowell said.
Turkish Ambassador to U.S. was sent back to Turkey on March 4 when the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs approved Resolution 252 on Armenian Genocide.
