Georgia's Foreign Ministry urges Azerbaijan to punish killers of 17-year-old teen
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia made a statement on the tragic incident occurred on the Georgian-Azerbaijani state border. Killing an innocent civilian by the individual representative of the law-enforcement agencies represents an especially despicable act, the statement says.
“We believe that a citizen of a neighbor state, who accidentally ends up on the other side of the border of a friendly state, should not be shot on defeat,” MFA statement reads further.
On April 13, 2010, the border guards of the Republic of Azerbaijan shot and killed the citizen of Georgia, resident of village Erisimedi, Sighnaghi municipal district, the 17-year-old Ibragim Gaorgashvili, who has accidentally crossed the Georgia-Azerbaijan state border and entered the Azerbaijani territory while searching for the lost cattle.
Azerbaijani media, in turn, spread official statement of the country’s state border service, highlighting Azerbaijan prevented a border-crossing attempt in the abovementioned place of the Georgian-Azerbaijani state border.
