Tina Kaidanow due to visit Armenia May 14
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Tina Kaidanow is paying a regional visit to the Caucasus. She was in Baku Wednesday, and is due to arrive in Yerevan Friday.
The top US official met with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku.
Tina Kaidanow told reporters in Baku that there is quite big activity over Karabakh issue recently.
“We are very active and are greatly attracted with the issue, we can say we are actively occupied with the process with the two other Co-Chairs, like the two countries involved in the process,” she said.
The official also referred to Azerbaijan-US relations and addressing Baku’s recent anti-American statements, noted: “What I mean is that the US greatly cares for military partnership with Azerbaijan and is looking forward to having a good and efficient partnership.”
Tina Kaidanow is expected to meet with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan, Radio Liberty reports quoting the President’s spokesman Armen Arzumanyan. According to the source, the sides will cover issues related to the Armenian-American relations.
As the Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan reported, the US official will also meet with the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
