Zatulin: Russian Foreign Ministry missed the perfect opportunity to remain silent
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrey Nesterenko issued a statement Monday, a day after the Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary elections, though, Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin refused to comment on it.
“I don’t want to comment on the Foreign Ministry statement anyhow… let diplomats do. But I regret that the Foreign Ministry missed the perfect opportunity to remain silent,” he told Panorama.am.
Remind that the statement particularly said: “Moscow accepts the principle of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, as well as other fundamental norms and principles of international law. I would like to add that Russia supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and other norms and principles of international law. We don’t recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.”
By the way, K. Zatulin returned from Karabakh Monday; there he was conducting observation mission during the May 23 parliamentary elections. Zatulin once again highlighted that any nation, even the smallest one, has the right to self-determination.
