Secret military bases to be established in Azerbaijan
“Allocation of secret military bases in Azerbaijan has never been so tensely arisen. Despite this, a number of leading periodicals wrote that the issue is settled already,” Azeri military expert Uzeri Jafarov told Vesti.az commenting on the information published in The New York Times on secret military bases to be set up in Azerbaijan.
The New York Times said the US is setting up military bases in Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan to carry out secret military activities and collect some information worldwide. It notes David Petreus, General in the United States Central Command, has already signed the launch of the operation.
Jafarov said, first of all, such bases are needed in Georgia, not in Azerbaijan. He also added that US will over establishing bases in Azerbaijan may not come true.
“We shouldn’t forget that our neighbors Russia and Iran will show a negative stance towards the agreement,” the expert said.
