Republican party council agrees to approve bills on establishing foreign-language schools in Armenia
The bills on making amendments to the RA laws “About Language” and “About Education”, currently discussed at the National Assembly, will be adopted in the same format as they have been submitted to the parliament, NA Republican MP Manvel Badeyan told reporters today.
Remind that these bills envisage opening of a total of 15 foreign-language schools in Armenia. The Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan assured the Armenian-related subjects will be taught in Armenian. The bills have been widely protested through protest actions, as well as in the social networks.
Badeyan said, the bills have been discussed at the Republican party council sitting on June 7 and it was agreed unilaterally to approve them.
Note that Prosperous Armenia coalition party pledged to be against the bill. They vowed to vote for the bill providing amendments are made to it, according to which, foreign-language education will be carried out in high school.
“Heritage” and ARF Dashnaktsutyun are also against the bill.
