2010 World Cup to get underway in South African Republic today
The South-African city of Johannesburg will host the 19th World Cup toget underway today. For the first time in the history the World Cup is being held in Africa.
32 teams will participate in the 2010 World Cup, including 13 from Europe, 6 from Africa, 5 from South America, 4 from Asia, 3 from Northern and Central America, 1 from Oceania. The teams are represented in 8 groups, each including 4 teams. The teams to win 1st and 2nd placed in the group will qualify for 1/16 semi-final.
Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, South Korea (Korea Republic), Nigeria, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Ghana, Serbia
Group E: Netherlands, Japan, Cameroon, Denmark
Group F: Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, North Korea (Korea DPR), Cote d’Ivoire, Portugal
Group H: Spain, Honduras, Chile, Switzerland
