Deputy Foreign Minister receives Margaret Sekaggya
On June 14 the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Arman Kirakosyan, received the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, Margaret Sekaggya.
According to the Foreign Ministry, greeting the guest, Mr. Kirakosyan presented the steps the Armenian authorities take towards reinforcement of the institute of the human rights defender, emphasizing the importance of the independent activity of the Ombudsman’s Office.
The interlocutors discussed the results of the report on the recent review of Armenia’s human rights record. It was noted that the commitments assumed under the process would be implemented after the official confirmation of the report by the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council in September.
