Iran to reinforce frontier security in northern provinces
Commander of Iranian Police Forces Esmayil Ahmad Moghadam informed while introducing the new commander of the police service that to ensure Iran’s frontier security, new technologies will be installed in all the frontier posts of the country to prevent remote-controlled bombings by the rival, IRNA reported.
General Moghadam said much attention should be paid to ensuring security in the province of Western Azerbaijan as it’s due to this region that the threats of both internal and external enemies had been possible to neutralize.
Note that Turkish-speaking Iranians of Azerbaijani decent, 20-25% of Iran’s 70-million population, residing in this province, are holding anti-governmental protest actions every now and then demanding from the authorities to grant state status to the Turkish language, as well as raise various ethnic issues.
