"Golden Apricot" International Film Festival gets under way tomorrow
“Golden Apricot” 7th International Film Festival kicks off Sunday making Yerevan to host famous and eminent film makers from different parts of the world. Today famous Italian movie start Claudia Cardinale, French film maker Denin, Canadian Armenian film director and president of the festival Atom Egoyan accompanied by his spouse Arsine Khanjyan arrive in Armenia.
Tomorrow traditional apricot blessing event will take place which will symbolize the start of the festival.
The Alley of Stars is supposed to be officially opened in front of Cinema Moscow (Hamo Beknazaryan, Ruben Mamulyan, Sergey Parajanov and Anri Verno). Anri Verno’s “Mother” will be performed in the official opening of the festival. Note, Anri Verno’s 90th jubilee is marked this year.
A jazz concert is as well scheduled in the frames of the festival.
Master classes, retrospective exhibitions, German and French movie days, jubilee evenings to Henric Malyan 85 and Albert Yavuryan 75 will be held. One of the innovations of the festival is “Yerevan nights” projects to be held in Lovers’ Park.
Festival includes three competition projects – international feature, documentary and Armenian Panorama. About 120 films will be performed many out of which have already taken part in different festivals.
Like Armenian apricot, “Golden Apricot” has become a symbol of our country in the world. “Golden Apricot” will last till July 18.
