Scuffle in the Turkish parliament
A new scuffle in the Turkish parliament has caught media spotlight. “Everything is the same in the Mejlis, again fists being shaken,” CNNTurk says.
The clash took place among MPs from the ruling Turkish Justice and Development Party Muhyettin Aksak (Erzrum) and the opposition Nationalist Movement Party Yilmaz Tankut (Adana), during the discussion of a bill on opening eight new universities.
Aksak sharply reprimanded Tankut after the latter delivered a speech, saying: "First listen, understand and then speak." The remark sparked the scuffle. After a few exchanges of blows and kicks the scuffle was prevented mainly due to intervention by other MPs present in the parliament. Tankut shouted he will pay off the score.
