David Kramer: Situation in Azerbaijan is getting worse
David Kramer, the former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State condemned Azerbaijan over the situation of human rights in the country. The situation in Azerbaijan is getting worse, he said, according to Azerbaijani media.
I think sentencing of Eynulla Fatullayev so soon after Secretary Clinton was there was a clear signal by president Aliyev that he essentially doesn’t care what the Western community thinks, he said. “Sentencing of Fatullayev and bloggers situation continues to be a blot on Azerbaijan’s reputation. Council of Europe and the US have raised this issue. Yet, we don’t seem to see any positive change in Azerbaijan,” Kramer highlighted.
Commenting on the remarks of the former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, experts think Washington has lost all hopes that the current problems will ever be solved in Azerbaijan and that a dialogue over the issues will ever become possible.
