7th Golden Apricot Film Festival over: who took Golden Apricot home
The 7th Golden Apricot Film Festival is over, the closing ceremony of which was held in the Moscow Cinema. The Festival received 500 applications, at about 120 films have been selected and showcased, 45 of which were in the 3 sections of the international competition, and there were 5 international juries. So:
International Feature Competition
1. Golden Apricot for the Best Feature Film to the Turkish director Reha Erdem for the film Kosmos
2. Silver Apricot Special Prize for Feature Film to Sergey Loznitsa for the film My Joy
International Documentary Competition
1. Golden Apricot for the Best Documentary Film to Pavel Kostomarov for the film Together
2. Silver Apricot Special Prize for Documentary Film to Vadim Jendreyko for the film The Woman with Five Elephants
Armenian Panorama Competition
1. Golden Apricot for the Best Armenian Film to Arman Yeritsyan and Inna Sahakyan for the film The Last Tightrope Dancer in Armenia
2. Silver Apricot Special Prize for Armenian Film to Comes Chahbazian for the film Down Here
3. Special Mention to Nikolay Davtyan for the film Uncle Valya
FPRESCI Jury Award went to Jasmila Žbanić for the film On the Path.
Ecumenical Jury Award went to Suren Babayan for the film Don’t Look in the Mirror, and the Special Recommendation to Aleksei Popogrebsky for the film How I Ended This Summer
Hrant Matevosyan Prize went to Marat Sargsyan for the short film Lernavan, which also received the Best Short Film Award by the British Council Armenia
Golden Apricot 7th Yerevan International Film Festival was due July 11-18. This year, in the sidelines of the festivel, tribute was paid to the Armenian outstanding film director Henrik Malyan – 85, actors Mher Mkrtchyan – 80, and Khoren Abrahamyan – 80, operator Albert Yavuryan – 75, remarkable French-Armenian film director Henri Verneuil – 80. Jubilee programs also include Armen Jigarkhanyan – 75, and Atom Egoyan – 50.
