President Serzh Sargsyan meets with "Luys" Foundation scholarship winners
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with “Luys” Foundation 30 scholarship winners of 2010-2011 academic year.
The head of the education program of “Luys” Foundation Jacqueline Karaaslanyan told reporters following the meeting that only 30 scholarship winners met with the Armenian President as only 30 of them are in Armenia now.
According to her, the Foundation has about 75 scholarship winners for 2010-2011 academic year, though, 5 are still waiting for a reply from the universities they have applied.
“The 5 students have applied to the universities included into the list of 25 best universities as determined by the Foundation. Once they get admission, they will be provided the scholarship,” she said, adding that most of the scholarship winners are from Armenia.
Jacqueline Karaaslanyan said a number of issues had been discussed during the meeting with the President.
“The students had an opportunity to share the issues they are concerned about with the President. They discussed how the skills of the students could be made useful for the development of Armenia. The students pledged to return to Armenia as soon as they finish their studies to contribute to the development of their motherland,” she said.
As she said, last year the Foundation provided scholarships for 44 students, some of them are already back in Armenia, the others will return in the fall.
