IMF doesn’t expect sharp currency fluctuations in Armenia
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) doesn’t expect sharp currency fluctuations in Armenia but rather the IMF forecasted currency flexibility for Armenia.
IMF resident representative in Armenia Guillermo Tolosa told reporters today the currency exchange rate is formed through the results of market relations, and fluctuations are possible depending on some factors.
He said that the economic growth in Armenia complies with the IMF forecasts. IMF forecasts say 4,8% GDP growth for Armenia and the index of inflation will drop by the yearend.
According to Tolosa, though the crisis is overcome, it doesn’t mean the difficulties are past. He highlighted that the government should lead a policy to face the challenges.
IMF representative also said the economy in Armenia will considerably boost in the future, as compared to 2003-2008 years and some positive shocks could be expected.
