Turkey pays Iran $ 600 million fine over gas deal breach
Turkey had to pay a fine of about $600 million to Iran over gas agreement breach, Mehr reported.
Turkey's State Oil Company Botas, has paid the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) a fine of about $600 million for import of natural gas at a rate smaller than was previously agreed between two companies, Mehr news agency said Sunday.
Under the contract, Turkey had to import from Iran 30 million cubic meters of gas per day. However, Botas could only import 25 million cubic meters per day.
According to the source, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Nakhijeva have reached a new deal lately, which envisages export of 500 mln. cubic meters of gas to Turkey from Azerbaijan annually, for Turkey to provide Nakhijevan with Azerbaijani gas without gas transmission rates.
