"No changes should be expected in functions of Russian military base in Armenia"
“The point of signing a protocol besides the agreement on deployment of the Russian military base in Armenia is extension of deployment term, all the other functions carried out by the military base will not change,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in his interview with Real Politik TV program on the Public Television of Armenia.
Lavrov said, the amendments made to the agreement are not linked with any special events or causes.
“Any state or states closely cooperating in the military sphere, such as Russia and Armenia, need to plan their actions. Any changes in the functions of the Russian military base in the Armenian territory should not be expected,” Lavrov highlighted.
