Serzh Sargsyan: Armenia’s disposition over Nagorno-Karabakh remains unchanged
Armenia’s stance over Nagorno-Karabakh issue has not changed, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told reporters at a joint press conference with President Dmitry Medvedev of Russia in Yerevan today.
“Armenia’s disposition remains unchanged. The issue should be regulated peacefully, without use of force or its threat,” the President said, highlighting that the settlement of the conflict should be based on the international law norms and principles.
Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart for his mediating efforts directed to Karabakh settlement. “I’m thankful to Russia for contribution in ensuring force balance in the region and realization of the necessity to prevent military threats, as well as its efforts in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement,” Serzh Sargsyan said, reminding that due to the personal efforts of Dmitry Medvedev, numerous trilateral meetings of Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents were held.
In turn, Dmitry Medvedev thanked for underscoring Russia’s contribution and expressed readiness to continue efforts towards the settlement process. “We are hereafter ready to continue our mediation towards the political settlement of the conflict and towards finding mutually acceptable ways for regulation both in the frames of the OSCE and the bilateral meetings of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents.”
