G. Depardieu: I think Turkey launched the process of recognizing Armenian Genocide
French famous actor Gerard Depardieu visited on Saturday Memorial of Genocide victims which had great impression on him. “The impression was so deep, it was like in Tel Aviv when you visit the Memorial of Holocaust victims,” Depardieu told about his impressions during a news meeting with the reporters.
He said he knows about 1915 events and he feels great admiration towards Armenians who live in France and are the inheritors of Genocide victims. “I know some Armenians in France and I know it’s the fourth generation to live there to speak Armenian and to be faithful to their roots,” French actor said.
To the question how the actor could assess Turkey’s policy of rejecting Armenian Genocide. Depardieu said: “I think they’ve already launched the process.” He said he’s far from politics but he thinks culture has great role in Armenian-Turkish ties.
