“Hrant Dink” award holder evoked Armenian Genocide
“Hrant Dink” award nominees have been qualified on 15 September; those having great contribution to the human rights defense in Turkey and abroad got the prize.
Panorama.am reporter tells from Istanbul the first prize was awarded to a Turkish anti-militarist organization which is against army service and weapons.
Spanish judge Baltasar Garzon Real was awarded the second prize. During the award giving ceremony the Spanish judge said “Hrant Dink’s name as a person fighting against racism and discrimination will always twinkle brightly” and added: “Human history demonstrates world suffers malfeasance, for example Armenian Genocide. Today fight against discrimination is a must. Crimes should be under the control of international justice. Like Hrant Dink we continue fighting for the changes of vicious classes.”
Commenting on Spanish judge’s statement, jury member Boris Navasardyan underscored the significance of making such statements before the Turkish auditorium speaking about “one of the world’s crimes – Armenian Genocide.”
