Antalya Mayor says Turkish Culture Minister's behavior shameful
Kusturica came, said tough words and left, this is how Antalya’s mayor described Serbian movie-maker Emir Kusturica’s visit to Turkey where he arrived in the frames of Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Kusturica quit the jury of Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival after an unprecedented campaign was held against him. Before he left Turkey, Kusturuca announced what he had seen in Turkey was nothing but barbarism and termed Turkish Culture Minister’s behavior as hostile.
Turkish Culture Minister Ertugrul Gunay and award winner Turkish director Semih Kaplanoglu boycotted the film festival and refused to participate in the festival as Kusturica was attending it.
Antalya Mayor Mustafa Akaydin apologized for the campaign against Kusturica and qualified the minister’s behavior as shameful.
