President Sargsyan attends SCADA system operation ceremony
Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan attended today in Yerevan the ceremony of operation of the SCADA system of supervisory control and data acquisition. Armenian Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan presented to Serzh sargsyan the opportunities of this system which is of big significance for Armenia’s energy system, the specially installed programs through which it is possible to optimize the production of electricity in power plants.
According to the President’s press office, installation of the system gives opportunity to more effectively manage the energy system, basing on the data collected through real time as well as increase the reliability of the work of the energy system.
The supervisory control and data acquisition project in the electricity system will be implemented in few rounds. The leader of the country got acquainted with the programs intended for the further rounds. For the implementation of the first round a loan agreement was signed between the Armenian government and Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (at present – Japanese International Cooperation Agency).
Japanese ambassador to Armenia Masaharu Kono, who was also participating in the ceremony, described the project as one of the best examples of Armenian-Japanese friendship and cooperation and noted that his country is ready to henceforth assist the initiatives directed toward development of Armenia’s economy.
