Moscovites to pay metro fare with cell phone
From January of 2011 the Moscow Metro system will run fare using a mobile phone, Moscow subway chief Dmitry Gayev announced during a working consultation in Moscow. According to him, Moscovites will be able to pay metro fares through credit cards of the banks the Moscow Metro has signed a deal with.
“The banks have issued 120 thousand cards already and now 100 thousand citizens are using them. Now we are working with the mobile operator MTS to make it possible to pay fare with a cell phone. In January we will launch this method of payment,” said Gayev.
