Turks have been unaware of Charents house real value so far - Hurriyet
Irem Koker, a journalist of the Turkish Hurriyet Daily, has discovered the house of a great Armenian writer Yeghishe Charents in Kars. The house has been talked much about recently, she says. Several years ago Armenian Deputy Education Minister visited the house where Yeghishe Charents was born in 1897. Later on, an Istanbul resident of Armenian descent tried to buy the house to make it a museum later, however, the owner of the house demanded 250,000 liras ($170, 000) for it. Thus, the talks were fruitless. According to Koker, Turks have been unaware of the real value of this miserable house so far.
