PACE envoys arrive in Azerbaijan to hold observation mission
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) delegation arrives in Baku on November 7 to hold observation mission at forthcoming Parliamentarian elections in Azerbaijan. PACE delegation is chaired by Belgian Paul Wille, “Ria Novosti” reported.
The delegation includes 30 diplomats to hold observation mission from November 5-8. The observers are supposed to have meetings with the representatives of the authorities and civil society.
OSCE/ODIHR has also sent its envoys and the two organizations are supposed to release a joint statement on November 8.
Since September 28 PACE mission has hold monitoring in Azerbaijan and recorded numerous shortcomings and problems.
OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election Observation Mission (OHIHR) has issued Report 2 on parliamentary elections campaign in Azerbaijan. The OSCE/ODIHR EOM received credible reports of intimidation of and pressure on voters to sign or withdraw their supporting signatures, as well as allegations of direct pressure on candidates, their relatives and their representatives.
