Milliyet. No matter how we desire…We’re responsible for suspending Armenian-Turkish normalization process
Abdullah Gul of Turkey was awarded “Chatham House” Prize of Statesman by Queen Elizabeth II in London.
Famous Turkish writer Mehmet Ali Birand underscores in his story that Gul was awarded for his support to the normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties. Birand regrets the normalization process has been suspended.
“No matter how we desire to blame Yerevan for suspending of the process, we are responsible for it. We’ve inclined towards Azerbaijan, or we didn’t manage to provide much information to our Azeri brothers. They’ve quitted us half the way. In the aftermath we have unsolved issue waiting for us,” “Milliyet” reports Birand as writing.
The Turkish president was praised for deepening his country's ties with the Middle East, mediating between opposing groups in Iraq and bringing together the Afghan and Pakistani leaderships in a bid to resolve disputes.
