WAPC: Freedom of speech endangered in Turkey
World Association of Press Council (WAPC) released a report on mass media and freedom of information in Turkey.
According to “Ermenihaber.am”, the report targeted those Turkish reporters who are either arrested or have lost their job under the pressure of the authorities.
“About 5 thousand investigation is launched in Turkey against writers and reporters. At least 46 reporters are jailed. The majority of them are kept illegally.”
Oqtay Eqish has been writing political stories for “Hurriyet” but he has been forced to quit his job.
