Nerses Yeritsyan: We have all bases for development of pharmaceutics in Armenia
Armenian Pharmaceutical Competitiveness Third International Conference took place on November 16 in Yerevan. The conference is organized by USAID-funded CAPS Project and Union of Medicine Producers and Importers.
Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan welcoming participants of the conference expressed hope that the conference will stimulate development of pharmaceutical sector in the country.
He said that 300 drug denominations produced and officially registered in Armenia are not inferior to their foreign equivalents.
“Armenian medicines make over 12 percent in the non-expensive medicines local market. Presently, 40 percent of total production is exported to Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Middle Asia, Georgia. Our exports totaled over USD 1.5m in 2005, while this index tripled in 2009. We have nearly 19 percent growth in the 10 months of 2010. Thus, we can confidently say that we have all bases for development of pharmaceutics in Armenia,” Minister said.
