Azerbaijan freed two bloggers
Regional court of Salian in Azerbaijan has freed today opposition blogger Emin Milli, whose lawyer Isahan Ashurov told “Turan” news agency.
Earlier Baku Appeal Court released another jailed blogger Adnan Hajizade. Currently two bloggers are freed, but their lawyer declared the boys demand full acquittal.
The case goes to the heart of the West's delicate balancing act with the oil-producing country, an energy supplier to Europe and a transit route for U.S. troops in Afghanistan, but where democratic freedoms are shrinking under President Ilham Aliyev.
The pair were arrested in July last year over an alleged brawl in a Baku restaurant. They were convicted in November.
