Abdullah Gul: Frozen regional conflicts may blast
President of Turkey Abdullah Gul who traveled to Switzerland, had a meeting on Thursday with the President of Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard. After the meeting, the Presidents had a joint news conference, when Gul was asked for comments on Armenian-Turkish ties. According to Turkish “Sondakika” news web site, Gul recommended to have a broader glance at Armenian-Turkish conflict.
“This issue should be studied from the angle of regional stability and frozen conflicts of Caucasus, since the frozen conflicts may blast.”
Gul underscored the fact can’t be ignored that “a part of Azerbaijani territory is occupied.” The added: “The settlements of the conflicts would be easier if they were solved one by one. I don’t want to link them, but the image should be clear.”
President of Turkey expresses gratitude towards Switzerland for supporting the normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties.
“The de facto status we have today isn’t beneficial for neither party,” President Gul said.
