Orange services are available even in Armenian regions close to the border
Orange shop was inaugurated in Meghri, and a computer room was opened in Lehvaz, a village located nearby Meghri
The 3G+ network of Orange is now available even in Armenian regions close to the border. On November 27th the official ceremony of inauguration of the Orange shop took place in Meghri with the presence of Ara Dolunts, the Deputy Marzpet and Sergey Hayrapetyan, the Mayor of Meghri and other official personalities of the region. Starting from now, inhabitants of this remote town will be welcomed in the same warm and comfortable atmosphere as in Yerevan or in other towns and villages.
Bruno Duthoit, who arrived in Meghri at the occasion of the official inauguration, said: «In a very short time, we have built a large network and today we can state with pride that our services are available to more than 93% of the population of Armenia, including far and border villages. Today the inhabitants of Meghri can also use the benefits of the most modern technologies: instantly have access to mobile internet, download files, music and films with high speed, I thank Meghri for the warm welcome and express my confidence that in our shop they will find everything they need for telecommunications.”
The visit of Meghri continued in the neighbouring Lehvaz village, where, in the frames of the charity program directed to community development,a new computer center with broadband internet was opened due to joint efforts of Orange and “Shen” charitable organization,
The 600 inhabitants of Lehvaz village will now have access to the facilities given by broadband internet and will always be connected to the world just as the inhabitants of the capital. The newly opened computer center is equipped with 7 computers, printer/scanner, Orange Flybox 3G router and comfortable furniture, which will provide possibility to the residents of Lehvaz not only be connected with the world, but also participate in computer courses.
Bruno Duthoit, Orange CEO said: “”As a telecommunication brand our priority is to make internet and modern means of communications available to everyone. It is with this objective and responsibility that Orange has built the largest 3G+ coverage in Armenia, making available its services to already more than 93% of the population, including remote villages. Computer rooms are at the center of our strategy, because they allow us to cooperate with the villages and together fill the gaps of the telecommunication.”
As other projects, this project as well has been implemented by joint efforts of Orange, Shen and the community, which will ensure its sustainability and long-term success.
For implementation of this project Orange has allotted total 2,714,000 AMD, and 1.300.000 have been invested by Shen and the community.
