Second day talks kick off in Istanbul between Iran and Western powers
Talks between Iran and Western powers, which kicked off in Istanbul Friday, are continuing for a second day. But still the discussions are not believed to approach the topic of Iranian uranium enrichment.
Tehran had originally refused to discuss United Nations Security Council demands that the Middle East country suspend its nuclear program. Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, also set preconditions for any future dialogue, said these officials.
The Obama administration has repeatedly stated it will impose additional economic sanctions on Tehran if it doesn't cease enriching uranium and its nuclear-fuel production site in central Iran.
Western diplomats say that the first negotiating session on Friday did not get into any detail, while Iran described this session as positive.
