362 kg drugs captured in 2011 in Azerbaijan
In the aftermath of Azerbaijan’s national security ministry special operations 31 people were arrested in 2011 for drug trafficking. “Zerkalo” daily writes 362kg of drugs were captured.
It’s reported that some operations were carried out joint with the Russian institutions, since many of the drug smugglers were arrested in the territory of Russia.
Earlier US State Department published its annual report which said that Azerbaijan and Georgia served as transit countries to transfer drugs through Iran and Afghanistan.
