Armen Movsisyan: Nuclear power plant of Metsamor directly controlled by IAEA
“The security of Metsamor nuclear power plant is controlled by the international organizations. Thus, it’s in vain to discuss statements of non-professionals,” Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan told Panorama.am.
Minister Movsisyan was asked to make remarks on Georgian former president Edward Shevarnadze’s statement which urged the Georgian authorities to hold negotiations with Armenia over the security of Metsamor nuclear plant.
Armenian Minister stated that the nuclear power plant is under the direct control of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and that not a singe problem occurred till now.
“Similar statements must not be seriously considered. We are open, and everybody can come and see it. If there were any problems, then the international organization would have forbidden us to work,” A. Movsisyan said.
