Armenians to have All-Armenian Youth Parliament
The initiative to establish All-Armenian Youth Parliament has a great number of supporters on Facebook, Head of the Department of Pan-Armenian Programs at the Armenian Ministry of Diaspora Atom Mkhitaryan told reporters.
According to him, as of April 11 morning, the Youth Parliament already has 210 members, of which, 20-25 percent are Diaspora Armenians.
The website of the parliament is now being developed.
The official noted that as far back as in 2004, Youth Parliament was established at the Armenian National Assembly, initiated by Hranush Hakobyan. The Youth Parliament implemented a range of programs in Yerevan and in the Armenian regions. However, the first Youth Parliament stopped its activities after the next parliamentary elections.
Atom Mkhitaryan said that the parliament is open for everybody. Currently the Ministry of Diaspora solves organizational problems but the parliament is expected to have chairman who will be replaced every one or two months.
“Every registered organization will have a representative in the parliament, having the right to vote, while individual members of the parliament can only participate in debates. Thus we stimulate self-organization among the youth,” Mkhitaryan said in his remarks.
