R. Melkonyan: Turkish nationalists may have killed Sevak Shahin
On April 24 when the Armenians all over the world were paying tribute to the victims of Armenian Genocide, an Armenian-Turkish soldier Sevak Shahin Balikcin was murdered. Turkish media outlets write Sevak Shahin was killed while having a joke with his friend.
Expert Ruben Melkonyan, who is the deputy dean of YSU Oriental Studies faculty, spoke to “Ermenihaber.am” and made his remarks over the incident. According to him the day of the assassination, April 24, reinforces the suspensions that the crime was tendentious.
“It’s said that the Armenian guy used to speak about the Armenian Genocide, which caused a quarrel, which led to his murder,” Ruben Melkonyan said not excluding the tendentious of Turkish nationalists who committed the crime on a very symbolic day for Armenians.
