Sepp Blatter not intended to investigate Qatar case
Sepp Blatter says he won't investigate the decision to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup, “CNN” writes. The decision comes in spite of allegations in the Sunday Times newspaper that two Fifa executives received bribes to vote for Qatar.
The allegations were further fuelled last month when Fifa vice-president Jack Warner, suspended on another allegation of corruption, released details of an email exchange between himself and Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke in which the latter said Qatar had "bought" the World Cup rights. Valcke subsequently claimed that the word was meant innocently and was not a reference to bribery.
In an interview with CNN, Blatter now says he has no intention of examining the details behind Qatar's bid. "I don't know why we should open something because somebody has said something towards Qatar."
