More than 40 al-Qaida prisoners escaped from Yemen jail
More than 40 al-Qa'ida prisoners escaped from a south Yemen jail today, Associated Press informs referring to the security and medical officials.
According to the source the escape came after a group of rebels assaulted the jail and the prisoners joined the clash in the aftermath of which one guard was killed.
“The Australian” writes the prisoners fled the central jail in al-Mukalla, capital of the Hadramawt province, into the nearby mountains after they overpowered the guards and seized some of their arms, a security official said.
