Georgian religious unions still not awarded status of legal body
Neither of religious unions in Georgian has submitted application to Georgian national agency of public registry to be granted a status of legal body, “apsny.ge” website informs.
Press service of Georgian national agency of public registry approves that religious unions, which were authorized to apply for registration of legal body, haven’t submitted applications.
Armenian Supreme Patriarch Karekin II was paying visit in the middles of June to Georgia, where he had meetings with Georgian Patriarch Ilya 2nd and Georgian President. The press service of Armenian Church informed the status of Armenian Church in Georgia was being highlighted during the official meetings. In the aftermath of those negotiations Armenian Church in Georgia was granted a status of legal body, as well as to the Georgian community in Armenia, which didn’t attempt for a state registration. It was suggested that half-ruined and endangered Armenian churches should be carefully restored and returned back to the Armenian diocese.
