The 6th Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad of Armenia will be held in September-October
In September-October, 2011 the 6th Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad of Armenia will be held for students and engineers under the age of 30. General Organizer of the Olympiad is Synopsys Armenia, and General Sponsor is VivaCell-MTS.
This year the list of anticipated participant countries includes Armenia, Bulgaria, Germany, Jordan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, UAE, Ukraine and USA. Participants from Armenia should submit applications no later than September 10, 2011 to [email protected] or directly address to Synopsys Armenia CJSC. Participants from other countries should address to local committees contacts (details can be found at www.microolymp.am).
The Olympiad will be conducted in two stages. The first stage will be held in all participant countries. It will involve a baseline by which all contestants will complete test. The final stage among the top contestants of all participant countries will be held on October 11, 2011 in Armenia, at Synopsys Armenia Educational Department. It will involve advanced engineering tasks requiring complex solutions. The Olympiad includes the following topics: Digital IC Design and Testing, Analog and Mixed Signal IC Design and Testing, Semiconductor Devices and Technology and Mathematical and Algorithmic Issues of EDA. Participants can find the tasks and problems of previous Olympiads with their solutions at www.microolymp.am.
Besides the First, Second and Third Prizes awards will be given for the Best Engineering Solution, Most Creative Solution, Best Out-of-the-box Solution, Best Female Participant, Youngest Participant and Best Result from each Country.
The goal of the Olympiad is to stimulate further development of microelectronics in Armenia and in the participant countries, recognize and inspire young, talented engineers, increase interest in microelectronics among young specialists, understand the level of knowledge in the field of microelectronics among young specialists in participating countries and to make necessary adjustments to the educational programs, assist in creating a community of young specialists involved in microelectronics.
