Criminal case was filed on driving mad a solider
By the ordered of the deputy of the Armenian Prosecutor General, military prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan, a criminal case was filed according to the 375 article of the RA Criminal Code “abuse of power, transgression of authority or administrative dereliction”, for driving Hovhannes Vardanyan- who was passing his military service- to madness in the army in one of the Asceran’s military units, said Armenian Prosecutor General, military prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan to Panorama.am.
Hovhannes Vardanyan is now at the mental clinic of Nork in Yerevan. His father, Vardan Vardanyan, told that his son had served for one year and 2 months and during this time he had no health problems. Once senior Vardanyan received a call which said his son had had a conflict with an officer, and only in 17 days he found out that his son was in a mental clinic. Father says his son was in mental clinic for 9 days. Hovhannes Vardanyan also told that the military officer had bitten him and had tried to rape him.
“Regarding the publications in the press as a report about a crime, a criminal case was filed by my order and the preliminary investigation was tasked to the Investigation Service of the Defense Ministry, and the investigation is in process,” the military prosecutor said adding that specific assessments will be given based on the achieved proofs.
