M. Spechler: West scared of making investments in Azerbaijan
The highly developed rate of corruption in Azerbaijan is an alarming issue for Baku and Washington, “Turan” news agency quotes an official from Washington as saying.
“Unfortunately, the action against corruption held in Azerbaijan was short and limited,” said the unnamed source to the agency.
Martin Spechler, a professor of economy from Indiana University, said anti-corruption pledges are democratic elections, amendments in civil service, rotation of political parties holding ministerial chairs.
“The Western investors are alarmed, they think they have no warrants to make investments in Azerbaijan because of corruption problems that country faces,” said Spechler.
