Happy Birthday, Italy: XI Week of the Italian Language to kick off in Yerevan
On October 17, 2011, the XI Week of the Italian Language in the World will be inaugurated in the premises of the State Linguistic University after Valeri Brusov, in Yerevan, Tumanyan 42.
The Event, which is promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is intended to enhance, within the framework of the cultural cooperation with the Hosting Countries, the value of the Italian Language as a vehicle of culture and as a key of access to the Italian Cultural Heritage.
The theme of the Week for 2011 will be: “Buon Compleanno, Italia!” (Happy Birthday, Italy!) as this year occurs the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unity. Such subject will be purposely considered in the different initiatives that will be taken by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the Armenian Universities (Yerevan State University and State Linguistic University after Brusov), the Komitas State Conservatory and the Small Theatre.
The program of events, which will consist in lectures, theatre performances (Versiliadanza, Small Theatre), concerts (traditional Italian music) and operas (“Elisir d’Amore” by Gaetano Donizetti) aims, in particular, at emphasizing the contribution of the “Italian Risorgimento” to the establishment of ethic, moral, historical and social values of the modern world, and it will prove, in this perspective, to be particularly significant for those students or cultural operators currently concerned with matters of cooperation with Italy.
