Armenian FM: Azerbaijan not committed to agree upon co-chairs’ recommendations
The impression is that Azerbaijan isn’t committed to agree upon the principles recommended by the co-chairs, Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian said in an interview with “Interfax”.
“Unlike Azerbaijan, which deeply criticizes the Minsk group co-chairs, we never express irrational condemnations. If we’ve asked the UN permanent member states to mediate, we must hail those efforts.
I don’t think the problem is with the co-chairs. The problem is with the parties treating the recommendations represented by the mediators. What have we gained? Azerbaijan’s efforts to pass to developing a peace treaty, doesn’t suit with the logics of the talks, the disposition of the co-chairs. If we cannot agree upon the principles, what will serve as a ground to develop the basic treaty? Thus the impression is that Azerbaijan isn’t committed to agree upon the ground recommended by the OSCE co-chairs,” said Minister Nalbandian.
Referring to the break occurred after Kazan meeting, Minister Edward Nalbandian said:
“First I’d like to express appreciation to Russian Federation, joint with USA and France, putting forth great efforts for the resolution of the conflict. Dmitry Medvedev’s efforts should be especially praised. Regretfully, Kazan failed to materialize a breakthrough. At the very last phase Azerbaijan failed the process. Azerbaijan appeared with a new text of 10 points. That was the repetition of former scenes.” Edward Nalbandian has stressed that the negotiating process continues as it doesn’t have any alternative.
