Jurors to release verdict on People vs. Conrad Murray Monday
Jurors ended their first day of deliberations in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's personal doctor Friday without reaching a verdict, international media outlets said.
The jury of seven men and five women spent 6 hours and 8 minutes considering the evidence in the jury room. They will resume deliberations Monday.
The case of People vs. Conrad Murray was submitted to the jury Thursday after 22 days of testimony from 33 witnesses for the prosecution and 16 for the defense. Jurors have with them in deliberations the notes they took during the trial and most of the more than 340 exhibits in the case.
Michael Jackson died at age 50 in June 2009 of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol. Murray, 58, a cardiologist who told police he administered propofol to Jackson for two months to treat insomnia, was charged with a single count of involuntary manslaughter. He pleaded not guilty.
