Statue of Fridtjof Nansen erected in Yerevan
“In the heart of Armenia’s capital city the statue of Fridtjof Nansen, the great relative and friend of Armenian people, is being in evidence that Armenian people keep the memory of their relatives bright in their hearts. Armenia has always had its place in Nansen’s heart, and in the heart of Armenia, in the heart of Yerevan, we’ll have Fridtjof Nansen’s statue. This statue enriches the list of schools, streets, orphanages and hospitals in different parts of Armenia – in Yerevan, Spitak, Gyumri, Vanadzor and elsewhere,” Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian delivered remarks at the official opening ceremony of Fridtjof Nansen’s statue.
Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, Deputy PM Armen Gevorgyan, politicians and artists attended the opening ceremony.
On November 9, stamp dedicated to the 150-th Anniversary of Fridtjof Nansen, a Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, was cancelled and introduced into circulation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian and his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre were present at the cancellation ceremony.
