Talish intellectual: Talish people suspended of primary rights in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan’s authorities have suspended the primary rights of Talish people being guided by their pan-Turkish empty ideology, Yasser Karamzade, Iranian Talish intellectual, said in an interview with Panorama.am.
“To speak Talish and to do Talish studies is a crime in Azerbaijan. Those who hold some studies in Talish are strictly controlled by the Azerbaijani security forces. In the aftermath of the policy adopted by Azerbaijan’s non-democratic authorities, Talish intellectual Novruzali Mamedov was jailed and died in prison two years ago,” said Iranian Talish intellectual.
Yasser Karamzade said after the collapse of USSR Talish people declared their independence in 1993, but Azerbaijan’s pan-Turkish authorities destroyed the new formed Talish-Muganyan Republic.
The Talish intellectual said that once Azerbaijan forced them to fight against Armenians, but added that now Armenians are their relatives and that they hail the independence of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh and are hopeful one day they will also declare their independence.
