Manchester United snap up 5-year-old City fan
Manchester United have snapped up a five-year-old child – whose father is a season-ticket holder at arch-rivals Manchester City.
The Daily Mail reports today that Charlie Jackson of Denton in Greater Manchester was spotted by United’s scouts at the age of 3 when he took part in Footytotz, a community-based football initiative for younger children. Two years on and United have asked Charlie to join them for training at their development centre and even though he is training with boys a year older than him the paper says he is being touted as a star of the future.
“His idols are Joe Hart and Mario Balotelli and at first he was mortified that he was having to train with United but he seems to be getting over that a bit now,” his father Andy told the Mail.
“He loves training with the club and it’s an amazing opportunity for him.”
