Cemil Cicek: We are ready to face our history
Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Cemil Cicek addressing an international conference dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the death of Sultan Abdul Mejid touched upon the Armenian Genocide issue.
Hurriyet reports that Cemil Cicek particularly said that his country is ready to face its own history and to open its archives if necessary.
“We are ready to face our history over the 1915 events. Whatever they say, we will open our archives. We are ready to discuss the works of historians,” said Cicek.
“I am sure that instead of making wrong judgments, we had better hold discussions based on real facts presented by our scientists,” Hurriyet quoted him as saying.
