Azerbaijan creates unpredictable situation
The NKR Defense Army sustained two casualties as a result of ceasefire violation by Azerbaijani snipers over the past weekend. The Armenian Defense Ministry has already made a commentary, declaring that the Armenian side will take inadequate action for every lost life of an Armenian soldier.
Were they situational incidents or maybe they have deeper roots?
Azerbaijan obviously violates the provisions stipulated by the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), war propaganda is carried out at the level of country’s political elite and country itself, other manifestations of Armenophobia and hatred become more obvious. These are the circumstances which make inevitable such deadly incidents at the contact line.
It is obvious that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is the only one responsible for such incidents as well as for the failure to achieve a breakthrough in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process. It is Ilham Aliyev’s policy that seriously endangers the regional peace which is fragile as it is.
Such incidents at the contact line will continue to occur until the conflict is settled finally, but we can say unequivocally that the number of incidents can be brought to minimum with manifestation of will.
The number of deaths at the contact line indeed could have been brought to minimum long ago, with withdrawal of snipers from the front line, but Azerbaijan just ignored the proposal of the international community and Armenia, declaring that withdrawal of snipers will solve no problem, whereas, the majority of combat deaths are caused by sniper fire.
Therefore we can say unequivocally that Aliyev and his environment must answer for the deaths of Armenian soldiers at the contact line and for the losses of the Azerbaijani side in case the Defense Ministry takes inadequate actions.
